LEGO® Bigfigures: The Big Characters That Make a Big Impact
Most of us are familiar with the classic LEGO® minifigure. Small, expressive and packed with personality. But some characters in the LEGO universe are meant to be big — towering, incredibly strong or simply too imposing to be represented at the same scale as everyone else. That is where the LEGO® Bigfigure (often called a bigfig) comes in.
A bigfig is a larger molded character figure that stands roughly twice the height of a regular minifigure. The body is usually one solid sculpt with oversized arms or claws, giving the figure a bold physical presence. Bigfigs bring scale, weight and storytelling to a build. When a Cave Troll stands next to Frodo, or Hulk stands next to Iron Man, the scene instantly feels more alive.
Bigfigs are also very collectible. Many were only ever released in one set, and often for a short period of time. Once those sets retire, the figures become harder to find, and their prices tend to rise on the secondary market. That is why certain bigfigs today are considered valuable display pieces among fans and AFOL collectors.
Approximate values listed below are based on BrickLink’s average sale price over the last 6 months, in new or excellent condition.
Top 10 Most Expensive LEGO Big Figs
1. Rancor (2013, Star Wars)
Approx. Value: SGD 177.05

Large, imposing, and articulated — the Rancor features moving arms, jaw, and even individually molded fingers. It came only in the “Rancor Pit” set, which didn’t stay on shelves long, making this beast one of the most sought-after Star Wars creatures.
2. Cave Troll (2012, The Lord of the Rings)
Approx. Value: SGD 133.51

The Cave Troll is one of the most iconic bigfigs ever produced. The grey stone-textured sculpt captures the brute power of the Mines of Moria. With LOTR sets discontinued for years, this figure has become extremely collectible.
3. Bane (2017, DC Super Heroes)
Approx. Value: SGD 123.91

This bigfig version of Bane delivers a bulky silhouette and the iconic venom-tube backpack. While not the priciest, it remains consistently sought-after by Batman collectors and DC display builders.
4. Killer Croc (2017 – Blue Pants + Claws, The LEGO Batman Movie)
Approx. Value: SGD 78.56

This version of Killer Croc is noticeably larger and more creature-like compared to earlier releases. With long claws, a wide snout, and sculpted scale texture, it has a strong display presence next to minifigures. Since it only appeared in one set and wasn’t reissued, it remains one of the more collectible DC Big Figs.
5. Troll (2009, Castle – Fantasy Era)
Approx. Value: SGD 73.18

Representing the early evolution of bigfig molding, this Troll mixes fantasy charm with bulky intimidation. Castle collectors especially prize this one due to theme nostalgia and limited reissues.
6. Darkseid (2015, DC Super Heroes)
Approx. Value: SGD 64.38

Darkseid’s sculpt and bold expression give him an intimidating presence. Because DC Big Figs are generally produced less frequently than Marvel ones, Darkseid is one of the more desirable DC collectibles.
7. Goblin King (2012, The Hobbit)
Approx. Value: SGD 60.12

The Goblin King has a uniquely organic sculpt, with exaggerated folds and facial details that make it instantly recognizable. The Hobbit sets were produced in lower quantities compared to other themes, which keeps this Big Fig in high demand.
8. Hulk (2017, Marvel Super Heroes – Thor: Ragnarok)
Approx. Value: SGD 58.16

Includes silver helmet & printed shoulder armor. A highly expressive and instantly recognisable variant that stands out in any Marvel display.
9. Red Hulk (2017, Marvel Super Heroes)
Approx. Value: SGD 56.72

This Red Hulk bigfig features the intense red sculpt and heavily muscled body that captures the fiery anger of the character. Unlike the standard green Hulk depictions, this version is instantly recognisable for collectors and stands out on display for color, size, and presence.
10. Roadhog (2019, Overwatch)
Approx. Value: SGD 48.04

Roadhog features outstanding sculpt detail — especially in the armor, mask, and tattooed torso. Since the LEGO Overwatch theme was short-lived, this bigfig didn’t see wide production, making it rare and desirable in today’s collector market.
Why This Matters
The LEGO Group has been moving toward brick-built large characters in recent years. When The LEGO Group shifts away from a figure mold, the chance of a re-release becomes slim. That means many molded bigfigs — especially older or one-set exclusives — are becoming historical pieces in LEGO character design.
That means many of the Big Figs listed above are essentially “closed chapter” molds. Their rarity isn’t just about age, but also about The LEGO Group's evolving design direction. As time goes on, these figures may continue to rise in collectibility, especially for themes with dedicated fan bases like LOTR, Star Wars, and Marvel.
If you have one of these tucked away in storage, it might be time to give it a spotlight in your display. These chunky legends are part of LEGO history.
