Bricks World is committed to fostering sustainability and promoting a greener environment. During our collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), we were one of the early adopters in Singapore to charge for bag usage, encouraging shoppers to bring their own bags and significantly reduce single-use shopping bags by 53% across all our retails stores in 2022. We also support various charities and donated over 200kg of LEGO® bricks to a charitable cause via a community campaign.
As part of our ongoing CSR efforts, Bricks World participates yearly on Planet Day (Earth Hour) as well as NEA’s Say YES to Waste Less campaigns – Bricks World incentivises customers when they bring their own cup for their Pick a Brick purchases. As a result, 21% of customers have taken to bringing their own cup, saving on plastic use as well as up to $2 off their Pick a Brick purchases in 2022. In addition, our logistics and operations reuse 100% of pre-used carton boxes as packaging for all deliveries.
From 2023, Bricks World has committed to reducing our annual net carbon footprint to zero. Proceeds collected from our bag charges help purchase carbon credits, each carbon credit we purchase is equal to removing one metric ton of greenhouse gases from our atmosphere. We have chosen to support projects certified by Gold Standard, established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs to help reduce carbon emissions globally and create sustainable development benefits for communities world-wide.
