In Case You Missed It: Adult Fan of LEGO Night has returned!
Our last AFOL Night was held on April 2021. Sadly, we were not able to hold any for the months that followed as part of the safe management measures to keep everyone safe.
Almost a year later, we were finally able to hold another session and this time round, we decided to DOUBLE the fun and extended it to two nights! Perfect excuse for us to invite more Bricks World members!
Where shall we begin?
Introduction
Participants were divided into six groups and everyone was required to adhere by the safe management measures, sanitize their hands, wear masks at all times and the groups were given spots 1m apart from each other.
Preview sets were available for sneak peaks into some of the upcoming March launches and after viewing those, it was GAME ON!
ROUND 1: SPEED BUILD
We warmed up the evening with our speed build challenge using the LEGO® Go-Kart Racer (30314).
It was really exciting as the teams went head to head at the beginning. It was with team work that saw the winning team pull away from the rest and earn street cred for being the Fastest Builders of the night!
The winning team received a Large Pick a Brick cup, just like racers with their winning trophies. This would give them an advantage as the rest of the teams were presented with small Pick a Brick cups. These cups would be used for the diorama challenge at the end.
ROUND 2: TRIVIA QUIZ
As a tribute to the latest Batman movie as well as LEGO vehicles campaign, the Trivia Quiz challenge was very much connected to these two themes.
Batman is one of the most famous super heroes and AFOLs who collect LEGO® Batman™ sets definitely had the advantage over the rest of the teams! It was then down to the teams' collaborative effort to answer the rest of the questions.
Can you identify the LEGO® Batman™ Minifigure below or name the first LEGO vehicle that came with the minifigure on top?
We are very proud to announce that for the first time in the history of the 'Adult Fan of LEGO Night' event, one team earned perfect marks for the quiz!
In doing so, they earned a large Pick a Brick cup like the Speed Build Challenge winners. While the rest of the teams received another small Pick a Brick cup.
ROUND 3: DIORAMA CHALLENGE
We then moved on to the highlight of the night where all LEGO fans can shine and live their LEGO® Masters dream.
All teams were allowed to use the LEGO® Go-Kart Racer (30314) that they received earlier during the Speed Build Challenge. They then gathered LEGO® bricks using their Pick a Brick cups and LEGO® Minifigure elements from the Build a Minifigure station.
As a bonus, each team was also provided with a Batman Cowl to convert their Go-Kart Racer into the caped crusader!
After the teams had acquired their materials, they were given 40 minutes to construct the 'LEGO® Batman™ Vehicle Takedown' diorama. The judging criteria of this challenge was not only around construction skills but also about the creative stories that each team came up with.
PRIZES & GIVE-AWAYS GALORE
The biggest winners of the night are the diorama challengers who each received a LEGO® DC Batman™: Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile™ (76188) set!
At the end of the event, each participant received a goodie bag containing a Bricks World Voucher and LEGO goodies (a LEGO® Batman™ Movie Mini Batwing (30524) polybag or a LEGO® Vehicles towel). They were also allowed to take the LEGO® Go-Kart Racer (30314) polybag that they used for the Speed Build Challenge.
