Building The LEGO® Marvel® Universe

The heroes changed. The builds got bigger. And the villains? Much more dangerous.

Remember when being a Marvel fan meant waiting for the next comic or movie, choosing your favourite hero and debating who was really the strongest Avenger? Today, we get to experience that universe differently. We get to build it.

But every universe has an origin story, and LEGO® Marvel’s began back in 2012. What started with Super Heroes, minifigures and smaller action sets has grown into towering headquarters, iconic Marvel locations and display pieces made for collectors.

Fourteen years later, LEGO® Marvel looks very different. The builds are bigger. The details are bolder. The characters keep changing. But the excitement of seeing our favourite Marvel stories come together brick by brick? That never left.

Let’s go back to where it all began.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Every universe needs an origin story. Before the towers, mansions and massive collector builds, there was Captain America’s Avenging Cycle.

Released in 2012, LEGO® Marvel 6865 Captain America’s Avenging Cycle marked the beginning of LEGO® Marvel, featuring Captain America on his motorcycle taking on two Chitauri. Small by today’s standards, but this little set helped open the door to something much bigger.

Because once Marvel entered the world of LEGO® bricks, there was no keeping the heroes contained for long. Soon, we weren’t just building the characters. We were building their worlds.

GET ME PICTURES OF SPIDER MAN!

By 2021, LEGO® Marvel had gone from small superhero adventures to taking over the New York skyline.

Standing over 82 cm tall with over 3,700 pieces and 25 characters, the LEGO® Marvel 76178 Daily Bugle brought together Spider Man, Venom, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Daredevil, Punisher in one towering celebration of the Marvel universe.

It wasn't simply somewhere for Spider Man to swing into action. It was a build made to command attention, packed with references, comic book moments and familiar faces.

LEGO® Marvel was growing up alongside its fans. The action was still there, but now the builds were becoming something you'd proudly give an entire shelf to.

And apparently, one iconic location wasn't enough.

WELCOME HOME, MUTANTS

Three years later, LEGO® Marvel opened the doors to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. With over 3,000 pieces, the LEGO® Marvel 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion brought Cerebro, the Danger Room, a towering Sentinel and fan favourites like Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Gambit and Magneto together in one impressive build.

More than a playset, it showed how LEGO® Marvel was becoming something fans could proudly make the centrepiece of their collection, not just recreating battles.

And soon, Marvel itself became the display.

MAKE MINE MARVEL

In 2025, those unmistakable red-and-white letters became a build of their own. But hidden inside LEGO® Marvel 76313 MARVEL Logo & Minifigures are Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Hulk, secret waiting to burst out at the push of a mechanism.

It was bold, nostalgic and unmistakably Marvel, which is proof that celebrating your favourite universe didn't always require a battlefield.

While the heroes enjoyed the spotlight, a certain villain was waiting for his turn.

ALL HAIL DOOM

Instead of appearing as one character within a larger set, LEGO® Marvel 76345 Doctor Doom Bust puts the iconic villain front and centre. His unmistakable mask and armour become the display, showing yet another way LEGO® Marvel has evolved for collectors.

And of course, Doom isn’t arriving alone. The included Doctor Doom minifigure lets you display the villain in both forms, from minifigure-sized menace to full-on centrepiece.

ASSEMBLE. IT’S ABOUT TO GET MESSY.

Back to the action. LEGO® Marvel 76348 Epic Battle: Avengers: Doomsday brings heroes and villains together for the kind of larger-than-life showdown Marvel fans know and love.

It’s a reminder that even as LEGO® Marvel becomes bigger and more display-focused, the thrill of putting your favourite characters together and creating your own battle is still very much alive. And every team needs somewhere to regroup.

NEW TEAM. NEW TOWER. NEW ERA.

The Avengers are assembling again but just not quite as we remember them. LEGO® Marvel 76352 Avengers: Doomsday New Avengers Tower introduces a new headquarters for a changing Marvel universe, bringing together a new team and a new chapter of the story.

It feels like the perfect representation of how far LEGO® Marvel has come: new characters, bigger builds and familiar stories constantly being reinvented.

THE UNIVERSE KEEPS BUILDING

The heroes may change and new villains will always rise, but that feeling of watching a Marvel world take shape brick by brick hasn't gone anywhere.

And with Avengers: Doomsday, the next chapter is only just beginning.
