WHAT TO BUILD

From Year of the Snake to Millennium Falcon: A Creative LEGO® Alternate Build

LEGO® fans never fail to amaze us with their creativity, and this latest alternate build is proof of that! What if we told you that a LEGO® Year of the Snake (40707) set—originally a festive, zodiac-themed build—could be transformed into none other than the iconic Millennium Falcon from Star Wars?

Yes, you read that right! Reddit user u/dionysage shared his unexpected alternate build of the Falcon using only the pieces from the Year of the Snake GWP set. The community was immediately intrigued, and requests for building instructions started rolling in. But there was just one problem—he had no idea where to start.

The Power of the LEGO Community

Fellow LEGO enthusiasts quickly jumped in to help. Some pointed him towards Stud.io, a great tool for designing digital builds with built-in instruction creation. Others asked for more photos so they could reverse-engineer the design themselves. Enter nopingrid_lego, who not only took on the challenge but also made slight modifications to refine the build before uploading the full step-by-step instructions on Rebrickable—with u/dionysage’s permission, of course!

A Unique Take on the Millennium Falcon

What makes this alternate build special is how well it captures the spirit of the Falcon while staying true to the limited parts of the 40707 set. With creative part usage and smart shaping, it manages to evoke the legendary Corellian freighter in a compact, brick-built form. It’s a fun build that Star Wars™ fans and alternate build enthusiasts alike can appreciate!

Want to Build Your Own?

If you have the LEGO® Year of the Snake (40707) set and want to try this Millennium Falcon build, you’re in luck! The instructions are now available on Rebrickable, thanks to nopingrid_lego and the collaborative spirit of the LEGO community.

This is yet another example of how LEGO bricks are truly limitless in creativity. One set, endless possibilities. Keep building, keep sharing, and who knows what unexpected creations will come next!
