LEGO® MINIFIGURE(S) of the MONTH - Residents of Haunted Mansion 31167

MEET THE MONSTER

The gates creak open. Something howls beyond the trees. A shadow passes the upstairs window. Then, just for a moment, something begins to glow in the darkness. You could turn around. But where’s the fun in that?

LEGO® Creator 3in1 Haunted Mansion 31167 brings together five familiar faces of classic horror: a Werewolf, Vampire, Frankenstein’s Monster, Skeleton and Ghost.

For longtime LEGO® fans, though, this spooky household might feel strangely familiar.

These monsters have history.

THE WEREWOLF

Whatever you do, don’t visit during a full moon. Caught mid-transformation, the Werewolf sports a ripped red plaid shirt and shredded jeans, with fur and muscle showing through underneath. But seasoned minifigure collectors may recognise the silhouette.

The character bears similarities to Wolf Guy from LEGO® Collectible Minifigures Series 14, including the large, moulded wolf head. For set 31167 however, the printing has been refreshed, giving this Werewolf a distinctly dishevelled appearance of his own.

No tail this time either. Perhaps he lost it during the last full moon.

THE VAMPIRE

Some residents prefer to come out after dark.

The Vampire brings a touch of gothic elegance to the household. Her elaborate dress features a laced bodice and necklace, while her double-sided face switches from a subtle fanged smile to a much more menacing, red-eyed expression.

Even her dramatic black hairstyle has a LEGO® story behind it. The mould has appeared previously in other LEGO® themes, now recoloured in black to complete her darker look.

Elegant, mysterious and certainly not someone you would want to invite over for dinner.

FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER

Stitched together and ready for another Halloween.

With a scar running across his forehead, patched brown jacket and torn clothing revealing another scar underneath, Frankenstein’s Monster looks like he has already had quite the evening.

Collectors may be reminded of The Monster from Collectible Minifigures Series 4, while the two share a recognisable monster aesthetic, the Haunted Mansion version features refreshed printing and facial details.

THE GHOST

Now turn off the lights.

At first glance, the Ghost might be the simplest member of the household. A white shroud. Two empty eyes.

Then the room goes dark.

Its shroud features a glow-in-the-dark effect, while a black minifigure head underneath creates the illusion of two hollow eyes staring through the fabric.LEGO® ghosts have been haunting sets for decades, with the earliest glow-in-the-dark example be LEGO® 6085 Black Monarch’s Castle Ghost in 1990. More than three decades later, the haunting continues. And this one is particularly good at making an entrance.

THE SKELETON

Some residents have been here a little longer than others.

The classic LEGO® Skeleton completes the group and looks perfectly at home wandering between the mansion and its graveyard. No transformation required. No elaborate costume. Just bones, a grin and decades of LEGO® history behind that familiar silhouette. Sometimes, the classics are best left untouched.

WHERE'S THE MONSTER REUNION AT?

Of course, Haunted Mansion 31167 is still a Creator 3in1 set.

Once the monsters have had enough of their mansion, the same bricks can be rebuilt into a Haunted Ship or Haunted Train with a platform.

One set, three spooky scenes. Suddenly your spooky monster reunion can take its haunting on the road. Or out to sea.

WHO ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH TO MEET?

The gates are still open. The lights are still flickering. And somewhere inside, five familiar residents are waiting.

A Werewolf lurks in the shadows. A gothic Vampire watches from within. The stitched-up Monster has awakened. A Skeleton wanders the halls. And when the lights go out, the Ghost begins to glow.

For now, the Haunted Mansion 31167 still stands. But its time is running out.

Now phased out, the mansion is slowly disappearing into LEGO® history. Once the remaining sets are gone, the doors close for good.

One last haunting. Your last chance to bring the mansion home.

Happy Halloween from Bricks World! 🎃
